Hi everyone, so i read Mrs. Kloser's note on her web page about talking/using the N-word. In class we went over it and heard some class mates opinions on the matter . I for one don't see anything wrong with using it if we are reading it from a book and it isn't directed at someone. Anyway what is is your opinion on the matter if have one?
Hey everyone! I had a question that ive been wondering about for a while.
Why do you think Twain brings in a character like Buck into Huck's life and have him die so suddenly? Buck is around the same age as buck, seems to me a lot similar to Tom Sawyer. Perhaps Twain brought in Buck to give Huck the feelings he had when he was with Tom again, and then when Buck died, it made Huck feel like Tom died?
Another question I had was why do you think Huck felt like he was responsible for the Bucks death? All he did was give Sophia a note she had asked him to get for her.
Last question: When Huck says, "We said there warn't no home like a raft, after all. Other places do seem so cramped up and smothery, but a raft don't. You feel mighty free and easy and comfortable on a raft." This seems to be a huge morality jump for Huck in the book. He seemed to admit that he feels more comfortable with Jim and knowing both of them being free and safe, than he felt at the Grangerfords who were white. He also now knows that Jim really cares for him and I think Huck is starting to care about Jim more and more as they travel together. My question to you guys is if you agree with the fact that Huck is starting to care about Jim and his safety, or do you think otherwise?

Okay so here are some of the questions i had after reading the chapters, feel free to answer any of them!
1. why do you think Huck refers back to Tom Sawyer? He also says things like "Do you reckon Tom Sawyer would ever go by this thing? Not for pie he wouldn't." (pg 60) Do you think he is trying to impress himself by saying he is being like his "role model" or do you have other thoughts?
2. Why do you think Huckleberry pulls another prank on Jim? The first time it was more to show his superstitions were fake (although they turned out to hold some truth), but this time it did not have any motive behind it.
Lastly, In class we talked about if we think Huck is raciest. This quote: "It was 15 minutes beforeI could work myself up to go and humble myself....but it done it, and i warn't ever sorry for it afterward, neither. i didn't do him no more mean tricks, and i wouldn't done that one if I'd 'a'knowed it would make him feel that way." (page 78)
I think makes us think if he is or not. because he talks about how it was hard to say sorry, but he also thinks of his feelings...what do you guys think?

Hello everyone! So I just finished chapters 7-10, and thought this was so interesting!!! Huckleberry Finn is so smart! I would never have thought to make it look like I was murdered just to run away. Huck's dad is really mean I do not like him at all. I don't understand why his dad wouldn't want him to do better than him if Huck could make money for him...(?) What do you guys think?
